Kathmandu: Borgward, a German car brand will soon be launched in Nepal by DSM Global Co. Borgward car manufacturing company was founded in 1919.
In Nepal Borgward will open its innings with the Bx5 SUV. It is a 5 seater SUV and will be imported form Malaysia. It measures in at 4,490 mm long, 1,877 mm wide and 1,675 mm tall, with a 2,685 mm-long wheelbase. The SUV looks smart and handsome. It hosts a OCTAGON grill with the brand diamond and the side wing lines.
It gets Borgward Connect Intelligent Connectivity System from which the users can access to all smartphone functions. Also the app provides information on fuel level, tyre pressure and service data. The vehicle gets a 12.3 inch touchscreen and shortcut buttons for easy access. The touchscreen can be used through different finger gestures.
On the safety front, BX5 has a lot to offer. The body uses high-strength, ultra high-strength and hot-rolled steel. It gets six airbags including two-stage hybrid air bags, blind spot alert, road sign assistan, ABS, EBD, break assist, auto hold and fatigue alert(pre-fills the brakes in case of rapid deceleration). It also has the 360° dome camera which helps in easy manoeuvre in tight space.
In terms of equipment, it comes with automatic halogen headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillights, keyless entry, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster display, built-in toll reader, cruise control, front parking sensors, a powered tailgate that can be remotely operated (including for the windows), power-folding side mirrors with puddle lamps and dual-zone air-conditioning with rear vents.
The turbocharged engine line-up starts with a 1.4 litre four-cylinder that serves up 150 PS at 5,500 rpm and 250 Nm from 1,750-4,000 rpm, and is joined by a 2.0 litre four-pot that makes 224 PS at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm from 1,500-4,500 rpm. Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard, but all-wheel drive is only available with the larger-capacity engine – the 1.4 litre powerplant is front-wheel drive only.
BX5 has the prestigious Red Dot Award in its name. Also this SUV has been participating in the top international car racing event, the Dakar Rally for past 3 years in a row. Dakar rally is one of most prestigious professional off road rally event and is called the game for adventurers.
In Nepal, the company will soon launch the Bx5 SUV after the things ease caused due to covid-19. The expected price is around 80-90 lakhs. It will compete against Kia Sportage, Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tu son.
